Open Doors
I'll taste the summer's warmth
The sun will bounce on the back of my neck and I'll enjoy
The chance of getting a sunburn
Just by laying on the beach forgetting to reapply sun screen
Even though I should
I'll be thrilled to travel even though plane rides are exhausting
Landing with puffy eyes and little to no sleep
But seeing a different part of the world
Will make my year and add to a life time of accomplishments
I'll go to work and be happy to see my coworkers
Even the ones who used to annoy me
We will chat about the weather
And how bad the coffee tastes
As I sit and think to my self:
Children will complain about having to go to school again
Being happy will only last about a week
They'll be reluctant to do their homework
But be happy for a Friday night out to eat
Life as a whole will go on
In another shape or form
In another way the world will turn its' clock
Sun will rise and sun will set
Gratitude of the world will slowly be forgotten
But I'll hold my new friend close to my heart
Maybe the minds will change of our ungrateful selves
& a new life will start, at least for me when we open our doors again
